This is my favorite place to eat, I take my nana here all the time, its quiet so she doesn't have to take off her hearing aids, and the staff is prompt and professional. I especially love the vegetarian spring rolls. You get a lot of food for your buck and its lots of vegetables! So you feel good when your done eating, not icky like Chinese food makes you feel. I could eat here everyday! The place used to be the old Sizzler's, so the building is old but spacious, its clean and the seating is comfortable. I would give it 5 stars if the decor was better, but I have to tell you, the food is the BEST! You have to try this place, you'll never eat Chinese again.

Try the iced Vietnamese coffee; wish Starbucks had this stuff.

The exterior of Andy Nguyen II does not portray the great taste of the food served. Inside, find the flavorful and authentic Vietnamese food, which has established Andy's as one of the best known and popular dining spots in Sacramento. Popular entrees include shrimp & beef over hot iron plates and five spice chicken, which feature Andy's signature good taste. All dishes can be made vegetarian. Beer and wine are also available. The first Andy Nguyen restaurant, located on Broadway near downtown Sacramento, now features an exclusively-vegetarian menu.

1/16/2009 This place opens at 10 a.m. which is nice if you want to get an early start on lunch.
Ate there today for lunch - had the pork-shrimp hotpot. It was delicious except for one thing - WAY too salty. I mentioned that to the waitress and she said to ask for less salt next time. I will, when I eat there next, but it's certainly easier to cook with less salt and let people add their own, than to put in too much in the first place. I'm a pretty big salt-eater, don't have high blood pressure, so don't stint myself in that department but this was way too much salt to be tasty. Or rather, the food WAS very tasty, just that the salt detracted a lot. Is there something about Vietnamese cuisine that makes them use more salt than anyone else, or is it just the cook here?
My dining companion had a crepe with vegetables in it. It looked good and she really enjoyed it.
Having options of white, brown, or fried rice are a nice touch. The food looks good. And tastes good except for the salt.
